Shaima Hussain Gargash

A recognized diplomacy and sustainability leader, Shaima Hussain Gargash is currently the Director of Energy & Sustainability at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and is leading preparations for the UN 2026 Water Conference – co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal.
She was the former Deputy Chief of Mission at the UAE Embassy in Washington, and had served as the Head of Policy Development at MOFA. Gargash brings substantive experience as a Clean Rivers Board Member, having worked across the public and private sectors. She is passionate about promoting women’s leadership in government and navigating complex social, economic and political issues.
Gargash holds a BA in Economics and a minor in International Relations from the American University of Sharjah, as well as a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Dubai School of Government in the UAE.
